max_parallel_workers_per_gather

A configuration parameter determining how many workers can be used for a parallel query

max_parallel_workers_per_gather is a configuration parameter determining how many workers can be used for a parallel query. Setting the value to 0 disables parallel queries.

max_parallel_workers_per_gather was added in PostgreSQL 9.6.

Note that as the intention was to enable parallel queries by default in PostgreSQL 10, the default was set to 2 in the then master branch (later to become PostgreSQL 10) and 0 in the equivalent commit in the PostgreSQL 9.6 development branch.
